Dubai Scholars Rubik’s Cube Competition
The Dubai Scholars Rubik’s Cube Competition was conducted on the 11th and 14th of February 2019. This impressive competition was exclusively for all Year 9 students and it was entirely based upon how quick each participant could solve the Rubik’s Cube which was patently depicted and mentioned in the slogan of the competition: ‘The Faster, The Better.’ Through this competition, students were given a platform to showcase their talents, skills and capabilities.
The competition consisted of a total of three rounds. The first round took place on 11th February 2019 and the second and the third rounds took place on 14th February 2019. All participants were provided with a 3x3 Rubik’s Cube and were given two chances to solve the cube [for the first round only]. The average time was then calculated and six participants qualified for the second round, in which participants were only given one chance. For the third/final round two participants, who solved the Rubik’s Cube the fastest, qualified. The contestant who solved the entire cube first had to stop the timer and he/she who did that was the winner of the DS Rubik’s Cube Competition. All participants would receive a certificate of participation and the top 2 contestants [i.e. the first and the second place] would receive certificates of achievement, which would be given during an assembly.
In this competition, Gabriella Vaz [9B] achieved the first place for her outstanding performance and for solving the cube in just 37.224 seconds [i.e. the fastest time], followed by Krishn Jai Singh [9B] who achieved the second place for his splendid performance.
This competition was organized by Muhammad Toofail [9B] and Neel Dhakaan [9B]. The following are the words of one of the organizer, Muhammad Toofail: “We would want to thank Mrs. Sapna for approving the conduction of the event. We would also want to thank each and every student who participated in this competition and we also greatly look forward to carrying out this event at a greater scale in the upcoming years as well.
